This kitchen was a long time coming for Kelsey and her homebuilder husband, Scott McGregor of McGregor Homes. After building and designing dozens of homes and beautifully crafted kitchens for clients, this project was their first ever build for themselves. A chance to have full creative freedom in designing a space they could enjoy and create memories in with their four children. What better spot to focus their talents on together than the heart of the home.

First sketched on the back of a restaurant receipt, Kelsey and her husband had big dreams for this kitchen and wanted to create something that would standout, yet remain timeless for years to come. With the help of their painters, a 50/50 Sherwin-Williams mix of Ripe Olive and Pewter Green was chosen for this cabinet color that remains the clear standout of this design today.

Now, let's get down to materials! Calcutta Gold leathered Marble was selected for the kitchen island and backsplash, while black Vermont leathered quartzite was chosen on the countertops for their muted, textured appearance and durability. Engineered French white oak flooring laid a foundation durable enough to withstand childhood clatter. The final details such as the mixing of metal finishes and matching white Cafe appliances all helped to create a seamless feel throughout this design. All materials help to balance both beauty and function in a space that needs it the most.

Layered with thoughtful details, these images give you a first hand look into the personal style of our principal designer. Warmth, texture, and a little vintage makes this home one their family will cherish for years to come. To have this home featured in the Fall 202 edition of Magnolia Journal was the cherry on top!
