Welcome to Project Cowboy Cool, a 7,233-square-foot Oklahoma estate that perfectly balances rustic warmth with modern sophistication. Nestled on a pocket of acreage in the heart of Chickasha, this home is a reflection of its owners—true "cowboy souls" with a love for classic Western style but a taste for elevated, timeless design. We were brought in mid-project to assist with the final selections and furnishings, ensuring every detail felt curated yet approachable. Enjoy part one of our Project Cowboy Cool reveal!

The Living Room
Is this our favorite room in the house? Maybe. It’s definitely a strong contender. The reclaimed hand-hewn timber trusses and antler chandeliers make an immediate statement, setting the tone for this rustic, refined, and inviting space.

The design of this room truly centered around the saddle chairs—the very first piece we picked. They feature equestrian buckles and quilted cross-stitching, bringing in a touch of Western craftsmanship. Paired with slipcovered linen sofas, moody textiles, and a Round Top-sourced vintage coffee table, the space is layered with textures that feel warm, rich, and casual.

One of our favorite design strategies here was balancing new and old. The sofas and leather chairs are new, while the coffee table, stools, rug, and console are vintage, carefully sourced to ground the space and give it a lived-in feel. This mix of materials and styles ensures the room feels storied, layered, and relaxed—perfect for a cozy evening or entertaining guests.

The Dining Room
This formal dining room holds a truly special centerpiece—a custom dining table made from reclaimed timbers, commissioned by the homeowner. Our task was to design the ambiance around it, ensuring a cohesive and inviting space.

To create an added layer of intimacy in this giant room, we installed projection sconces. Hung high, they extend outward, visually defining and grounding the dining area.
The space is rich with vintage finds, including a set of suede leather dining chairs with a twisted-back detail. Their small ball finial details give them a refined yet organic feel, pairing beautifully with the rough-hewn dining table. To introduce some contrast and break up the warm wood tones, we added upholstered dining benches that not only soften the space but also offer flexibility with their casters for easy movement.

One of the most breathtaking elements of this room is the commissioned artwork by Paul Meyer. Positioned on the primary sightline from the entry, this sculptural Native American chief portrait creates a striking focal point. Meyer’s layered technique—incorporating different materials, stones, and textiles—adds incredible depth and texture. Paired with a linear bronze art light, the piece truly anchors the space. A touch of greenery and a found bench from Round Top complete the vignette, adding further warmth to this rustic home.

The Study
Welcome to the study—or as we sometimes call it, the library. This space exudes masculine energy, designed as a retreat where the homeowner could get work done but also feel inspired. The Roman clay walls set a dark, moody backdrop, layered with rich leather textures and elements like a statement bison trophy mount that nod to his love of equestrian life, hunting, and fishing.

The Entry
From the moment you approach the home, the grand staircase makes a statement. The large front windows provide a glimpse of the show-stopping leather fringe chandelier that hangs over the stairs—creating a striking visual both inside and out. It’s a perfect blend of Western flair and high-end design.

The Powder Bathroom
If you've been following us for any amount of time, you know we love a statement powder bath! Smaller spaces like these are a great place to use graphic wallpaper, and I love how this blue oversized floral wallpaper functions as the art for the bathroom. And fun fact about this powder bath – the client hand made the cement vessel sink himself!

The Exterior
Designed for gathering and hospitality, the exterior features a screened-in porch, covered portico to a guest suite, a stunning pool and cabana, and a hand-laid cobblestone driveway (crafted by the client himself!). Every element was selected to encourage time spent outdoors, whether entertaining guests or enjoying a quiet Oklahoma sunset.
