When clients Kindsey and Conor said they wanted a wine cellar in their modern coastal living room, we knew this was going to be one epic home design! From the wine display to the cozy, layered upholstery to the architectural lighting, I am so so happy with how the Sarasota Sunset living room and entryway turned out!

Modern Foyer Design
The Sarasota Sunset foyer makes such a statement upon entry! An oversized, arched, black iron door opens to and artfully designed vignette. The three-tier chandelier feels both architectural yet organic, woven with bone-colored natural beads. We complemented the piece with a geometric grid sideboard and minimalist bar-hung iron mirror.
We were intentional about selecting one-of-a-kind artwork for this client's home – the easiest (and perhaps most fun) way to create a unique home design. We commissioned artist Lauren Williams to create the textile art you see hanging above the vintage farm bench, and we could not be happier with the end result!
Custom Glass Wine Cellar
Upon entering the Sarasota, Florida home, guests are immediately greeted with the most eye-catching display – the Pentecost-Chadwick's personal wine collection – all on display in a custom designed glass wine cellar.
This custom wine cellar design was so fun to collaborate on! The built-in shelving was a must so that the bar and glassware could could live beneath the hanging wine rack. Hanging wine glass holders were added beneath the wine rack for more storage.
My favorite detail from this space is the leather sleeve wine rack providing a vintage view to the side of the built-ins. We loved the idea of having special bottles displayed in a unique way, and this artful wine rack instantly elevated the little space.
Rustic Coastal Living Room Design
The Sarasota Sunset living room is layered in the coziest upholstery textures! We've got leather recliners (a standard request from our male clients, Conor included), bouclé ottomans, and grey linen sofas all surrounding a custom stripe ottoman. This cozy setting comes with a clear view of the Manatee River, right outside this luxury Florida home. To say the views are stunning is an understatement!
A unique design decision we took was keeping the built-in bookcases flush with the walls. The minimalist look felt so right in this space that was overflowing with texture, and the lines it created pair well the with the strong lines in the black grid pane windows and architectural lighting. Picture lights with a more modern rectangular backplate were hung above to complement.
Plaid Stair Runner
Before I sign off for the day, I have to call attention to the tartan plaid stair runner! It's just TOO GOOD! And, it's such a beautiful complement to the powder bath's cloud printed wallpaper.
Plaid is my new favorite thing! Just wait until you see Project Black Oak – the entire project is covered in this pattern.
If you haven't already, be sure to check out project Sarasota Sunset's kitchen design and primary suite reveal! Truly some of our team's best work in the customary KLD rustic modern aesthetic, but with a coastal twist!
